Most of the highlights over the past week belong to the emerging EV market in India, from the Tata Tiago EV to the Mercedes-Benz EQS. We also have crash test results according to the new Global NCAP protocols and news on Toyota’s flex fuel pilot.

Tata Tiago EV price extension:

Tata has opened the order books for its most affordable electric hatchback with over 10,000 reservations in a single day. In response to consumer demand, Tata has extended the introductory prices of the Tiago EV for an additional 10,000 customers, ranging from Rs 8.49 lakh and Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

BYD Atto 3 bookings open:

BYD has unveiled its second offering in the form of the Atto 3 SUV, which can be reserved for Rs 50,000. It is due to launch in December and is expected to be priced at Rs 30 lakh. BYD’s global offering also received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq in crash test:

The Taigun and Kushaq are among the first two Indian-made cars to be tested under the updated Global NCAP protocols and have received five-star safety ratings in both adult and child protection.

EQS 580 receives over 300 bookings:

Lexus ES300h updated:

Toyota’s luxury arm Lexus has given the ES 300h a small update, adding features like Lexus dynamic voice recognition, a user profile option, a revised center console and additional storage spaces. In addition, the luxury sedan now comes standard with wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Nitin Gadkari Opens Flex Fuel Pilot Project With Toyota:

Nitin Gadkari in the Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid

Toyota’s flex-fuel pilot was launched with a left-hand drive (LHD) Corolla Altis Hybrid by Union Minister for Roads and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
