Man, 67, charged with 2017 murder of Abbotsford woman in Mission – Mission City Record


A 67-year-old man has been charged in the 2017 killing of Abbotsford resident Chelsey Gauthier.

According to the provincial court database, Gary David Losch has been charged with murder and tampering with a corpse. The date of the offenses is given in Mission as July 27, 2017.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced on Friday (September 9) that it would provide an update on the case on Saturday afternoon (September 10).

Gauthier, 22, was reported missing in July 2017 after being last seen at the McDonald’s restaurant on Bourquin Crescent West and South Fraser Way in Abbotsford on July 27.

Her body was found on August 16 this year in a remote area of ​​Mission near Sylvester Road and Dale Road. IHIT reported that her death was “consistent with homicide.”

Gauthier was the mother of two daughters aged 3 and 2 when she was killed.

Her cause of death was not released, but police said they believe her killing was “not accidental”.

Losch has an extensive criminal record, including convictions for crimes such as resisting a peace officer, theft, criminal harassment, assault, violating his terms, arson, drug possession, and making threats.
