CyberLink and MediaTek join forces to offer an AI solution for facial recognition AIoT apps

CyberLink has integrated its FaceMe AI facial recognition engine with MediaTek’s new Genio AIoT platform.

The pairing of the FaceMe engine with the Genio platform offers the market an AI solution for face recognition AIoT applications.

Edge computing for low-latency facial recognition

FaceMe, CyberLink’s cross-platform AI facial recognition engine, already supports numerous operating systems and is optimized for IoT and AIoT platforms.

With MediaTek’s recent Genio 1200 integration, FaceMe also provides IoT/AIoT developers and system integrators with precise facial recognition capabilities for use in various industries and use cases, including security, access control, public safety, smart banking, and smart retail.

By putting computing power where the data is collected, edge computing offers fast detection times (within milliseconds), low latency, privacy and security, scalability, enhanced neural networks, and more efficient use of network bandwidth.

An integration for robust and scalable AIoT facial recognition

MediaTek Genio is a platform stack for the AIoT that includes low-power chips, software development kits (SDKs) for open platforms, a full set of tools to fine-tune AI models, and technical support.

As the flagship chip of the Genio family, Genio 1200 is designed for AIoT products and their edge processing needs.

With a chipset combination of CPU, GPU and AI processing unit that maximizes AI capabilities, it meets the multimedia performance and power efficiency requirements of AI facial recognition technologies such as FaceMe.

As a result, the FaceMe-Genio 1200 integration has already yielded results on Android devices.

“AI-driven applications are at the forefront of innovation, and our mission is to deliver the MediaTek Genio AIoT platform to drive the latest and greatest technologies at the edge,” said Richard LuVice President of MediaTek’s AIoT business unit.

“We look forward to seeing the incredible new experiences that CyberLink’s facial recognition capabilities bring to Genio 1200,” continued Lu.

“As AIoT and the number of use cases continue to grow, the market will demand more powerful and energy-efficient solutions for their AI purposes,” said Dr. Yes HuangCEO of CyberLink.

“Our partnership with MediaTek combines Genio’s AI-enhanced hardware capabilities with FaceMe’s fast, reliable, and accurate facial recognition engine to meet these needs,” continued Huang.
