VICTORIA, British Columbia – Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM) today announced the deployment of its Entra™ Remote MACPHY solution at Roome Telecommunications, Inc. Before the July replacement period expired, RTI and Vecima completed the deployment quickly and with no service or business interruption. Vecima’s easy-to-implement remote MACPHY solution proved to be a straightforward and timely solution to help RTI with the equipment replacement. RTI was able to leverage funds available under the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) $1.9 billion Secure and Trusted Communications Networks reimbursement program.

“RTI is pleased to have selected Vecima as a partner vendor,” said RTI General Manager Eric Votaw. “Vecima provided an affordable solution and gave RTI the necessary support and expertise for a quick implementation. Remote MACPHY will enable RTI to meet its federal obligation and also provide us with a clear path to deliver faster and better broadband in Linn County.”

“In telecom, we often talk about scaling, but being able to scale down is just as important,” said Hy Huynh, Vecima’s vice president of sales for North America. “Local service providers like Roome and communities like Halsey also have to address network security concerns, and we’re excited to help them do that.”

Recently recognized by Dell’Oro Group as the North American leader in remote MACPHY and 10G EPON remote OLT solutions, the Vecima Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) product portfolio is deployed by operators around the world.

The Entra SC-2D is a remote MACPHY node with high downstream and upstream bandwidth, a robust and flexible design, and increased capacity that enables higher levels of service, including gigabit services. It is centrally managed and controlled by the Entra Access Controller (EAC) and offers easy and intuitive configuration and management of DOCSIS and FTTX network access nodes.
