WhatsApp tests audio message transcription on iPhone

Whatsapp is working on an option for the audios sent by the app to have a transcript. The information was released this Friday (10) from the WABetaInfo website. According to the publication, the feature uses the device’s voice recognition to transcribe voice messages.

Initially, the site says the tests will be run on iOS (iPhone). However, like other functions of the app, this will also be made available for Android devices in the future.

According to the published screenshots, no messages need to be sent for functionality Whatsapp or Facebook server. However, Apple states that iOS native functionality “involves capturing audio from the user’s voice and sending that data to Apple’s servers for processing.”

The transcripts, the site explains, have a separate section with written messages. They also bring date and time displays and are in the Whatsapp Account database to be read at other times.

However, there is still no specific date on which the functionality is to be released for all users. Only today, Whatsapp officially announced that encrypted backups will be available in the coming weeks. The messenger has also recently started offering the transfer of history between operating systems.
